Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year! It’s been a busy and exciting summer for our staff!
I am excited to announce the acquisition of BREC Academy and RAP by KEYS Academy, a division of Health Connect America. Now known as KEYS Academy-Petersburg, our school is the fifth school in Virginia to join the KEYS network. Our schools had similar goals (prior to the acquisition), so the transition is expected to be smooth, with notable changes but, overall, great compatibility.
KEYS Academy-Petersburg takes pride in forming and nurturing excellent relationships with students, parents and public-school representatives. At KEYS Academy, we believe that each child is a unique individual who requires a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature. We use specific social and emotional strategies and tools, so that students can operate from a sense of well-being and be available for learning in computer-based, small group, and large group settings. We believe that every student should have the opportunity to create and live his or her own life with self-determination, guided by the key principles of safety, dignity, and opportunity.

School News
For the 2023-24 school year, students and staff will be in the building for in-person learning Monday through Friday (5 days a week). Virtual learning is still available for students if needed due to quarantine or other health conditions. Our school day starts at 8:15 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m.
KEYS Academy-Petersburg follows the Petersburg City Public Schools guidance for inclement weather closings. If Petersburg City Schools close for weather related issues, then KEYS Academy-Petersburg will also be closed.
